How we estimate
Revenue and download numbers on Chartjump are our own estimates. Here is how we get them and how far to trust them.
What we show
For each app we show last month's revenue and downloads as a range, for example "$1.2M to $2.0M", with a confidence label: low, medium or high. We never show a single number as if it were exact, and we never show another company's estimate.
What goes in
- Apple top charts. We read the public top free and top grossing charts for each country every day. A rank in a category maps to a band of daily downloads or revenue. The bands come from apps whose real numbers are public.
- Ratings. The total rating count grows with installs. We track it daily; its growth rate is a second, independent signal.
- Public pages. Founders often state numbers in interviews, posts and podcasts. We show those separately as "founder-stated", with the date and a link, and use them to check our bands.
How the range is built
Each signal gives a low and a high value. Where they agree, the range is narrow and confidence is higher. Where they disagree or data is thin, the range widens and confidence drops. Apps outside the charts get no estimate.
Limits
- Charts move with paid ad spend. A burst of ads can lift a rank for a few days without lasting revenue.
- Revenue estimates cover the App Store only, not the web or Android.
- Apple's charts do not count every country equally; small markets add noise.
No reliance
Estimates are estimates. Do not use them as the basis for investment, lending or legal decisions. See the terms. If you own an app and think a number is wrong, write to hello@chartjump.com and we look at it within 72 hours.
